Original score, preface, special notations, and performance instructions of "Above Ground" commissioned by the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet in 1996. Two copies of score, preface, special notations, and performance instructions. Set for low consort of Paetzold square-bored recorders ranging from bass down to subcontrabass. "Above Ground" draws influence from jazz, world music, and minimalism. Snippets can be found from late 17th century traditional Italian pieces. Influence drawn from African singing traditions, swiss yodeling, and Taqsim. Intended for four players and a guest player; using bass recorder, contrabass recorder, and subcontrabass recorder.
