One published copy of "Wayfaring Stranger" in 'Pete Rose: Wayfaring Stranger, for alto recorder and percussion,' 1994. "Wayfaring Stranger" was commissioned by Gerhard Braun in 1993. The piece is set for alto recorder, percussion (twelve-inch cymbal and bongo drums - one player) with an electronic drone. A tamboura - the traditional string drone instrument of Indian classical music - may be added. "Wayfaring Stranger" is in a more advanced idiom influenced by John Coltrane. Circular breathing is encouraged but not necessary.
