Materials Specific Details

One original score with preface, performance instructions, and symbols. One copy of score, preface, performing instructions, and symbols. One published copy of "Bass Burner" in 'Pete Rose: Bass Burner,' 1996. "Bass Burner" was written for Johannes Fischer in 1994. The overall quality attempts to reflect the exciting, fiery presence of Fischer's musical personality within a modern jazz idiom. "Bass Burner" is scored for a bass recorder player who sings (into the recorder), plays alto recorder (simultaneously with bass and while singing), and a large gong. Circular breathing is best but not necessary. Similar to earlier works humourous quotes are sprinkled into the piece, all from Telemann.
